Declutter Your Space

There’s nothing like a clean, tidy space to make you feel happy as soon as you walk through the door. Start by getting rid of the items you no longer wish to keep, but don’t pressure yourself to get rid of anything that’s still important to you. Use your shelves to only display the pieces that make you feel good.

Decorate With Plants

Plants are a common part of the Lagom concept, as they add a splash of color and warm feeling to your home. You want to stick with simple, imperfect plants instead of huge bouquets. It’s also best to choose a plant that doesn’t require a lot of maintenance. This way, you can just relax and enjoy your greenery.

Add In Nature

In addition to decorating with plants, you can use other elements to bring nature into your home. A wooden coffee table that resembles a tree trunk is perfect for your nature-inspired living room. You can also create a nature vibe with a wooden dining set and wooden paneled doors, as well as a palette of neutral and earthy tones.

Muted Color Scheme

A muted color scheme is a big part of Lagom because of the organic tones. One idea is to start with a neutral base, such as white walls with a hardwood floor. Use accents, fixtures and furniture to add in the light blue or green shades, as well as wooden tones. If you’re looking to add a fun shade, consider a pendant light or wall art in pale pink.

Experiment With Textures

You can also add Lagom by experimenting with textures, from hard and smooth to soft and fluffy. One example is your living room, which you can add texture to with an area rug, cozy blanket and throw pillows. A tree trunk stool and greenery add both texture and nature to your space. Finish it off by placing a woven basket against the wall for storage.

Add Natural Lighting

Another way to add Lagom to your home is to make sure there is as much natural light as possible. A huge window is great for letting in the natural light, but you can make it work with a smaller window as well. You want to move your furniture away from the window and opt for lightweight curtains. When the sun goes down, use your candles or fixtures to add a warm, inviting glow.
